Race notes: After 40 years of traveling to the New York State fairgrounds, Frank Cozze picked up his first victory. Strange race for the Jersey Jet, who took 8 pit stops, 6 strictly for gas. Might have worked for him had it not been for so many caution laps. The race winner, Frank Cozze got the last 129 laps of the 200 lap Super Dirt Series race on one tank of gas... Mechanical problems made it an early end for Jack Johnson and Kenny Tremont Jr... Tim Fuller was 5th and Billy Decker was 24th.

Andy Bachetti picked up the win and Billy Decker finished 28th.

  • 9/05 Albany Saratoga Speedway 1st and 1st
race notes: Memorable night as the Jersey Jet breaks Jack Johnson's all-time record at the Albany Saratoga Speedway by 2 victories. He also won driver of the year at the track. Ken Tremont Jr. held on to the points championship by 13 points, despite holding just a 19 point lead going in and Hearn winning both races, including the double points race. Not nearly enough credit for victories at this track, as it appears there is only a 2 point difference between 1st and 2nd for a normal race. A huge night nonetheless for the king of dirt racing...

Arriving late after the Super Dirt Series Race at Brewerton Speedway was cancelled due to rain, the Jersey Jet was forced to start from the back of the field. • 8/02 Fonda Speedway (Go Green NMX Fonda Thunder Series) - **Rained out.

The Fonda Speedway management seems to be awol as their website has been down with the message "Account for domain fondaspeedway.com has been suspended" showing for several weeks. Unable to get through on the phone and no messages regarding rescheduling the race or rain checks as of August 5th. Maybe they are out looking for a janitor to clean the restrooms or is that just wishful thinking?... **Update** - Finally found a way to get through to the track, whose website is still suspended. This leg of the NMX series will not be made up. No refunds for those who purchased tickets for the promoted events. NMX Series race, fireworks and Air Force Fly over turns into a rain check good for normal local racing card only.

Albany Saratoga Speedway Promoter Bruce Richards offered Tremont a $1,000 bonus with 20 laps to go if he could pull off the victory. Then with 10 laps to go, Richards moved up the bonus offer to $2,000... The dirt track racing legend Jack Johnson was 4th and led early in the race until getting passed by the Jet on lap 24...

July Results:

race notes: Not the night the great Jersey Jet is accustomed to, but that's car racing. Crazy things do happen. Brett finished 4th with his 358-modified #4 car and 26th with his big block #74 car. Jerry Higbie and Hearn were both knocked out of the modified feature race after a multi-car pileup on the first lap. Jeff Heotzler Sr. picked up the win. Hearn fared better after another 1st turn accident in the 358-modified race. Craig Mitchell got the win.

  • 7/18 Albany Saratoga Speedway - 1st
race notes: Brett Hearn moved to within 2 of the legendary Jack Johnson for career wins at Albany Saratoga Speedway... Keith Flach had a comfortable lead for the majority of the race, but then Jack Johnson and Brett Hearn closed in! Johnson took the lead on lap 25 of the 35 lap 358 modified feature, but Flach managed to reclaim it 2 laps later. Then it was the Jersey Jet's turn as he took over with just a couple laps to go and pulled away for the victory. Flach held on for 2nd and Jack Johnson was a strong 3rd... Kenny Tremont Jr. was a fast closing 4th. Tremont and Johnson appeared to have a misunderstanding after the race as Johnson banged into Tremont after the finish and then Tremont returned the favor. This apparently resulting from contact just before the finish, which was actually caused by Tony Kawalchuk. This was one of the most exciting races of the year... Brett Hearn continues to be undefeated in 2008 in qualifying action at the Albany Saratoga speedway and started the modified feature from the 9th position.

  • 7/17 Georgetown Speedway (Super Dirt Series Race) - 8th
race notes: Hearn won his qualifying race. H.J. Bunting III won the Super Dirt Series 'Super Southern 75' Big-Block Modified feature. Billy Decker finished 9th.

  • 7/05 Orange County Fair Speedway (2 races) 4th - 24th
race notes: Rick Mill got the feature victory. Hearn started in the 15th spot and dropped to 19th when his car stopped on lap 11. Since he finished an untypical 5th in his heat race, it may well be the big block 74 car was not quite right from the beginning. Second night in a row the race ended early and the Jet didn't get a chance to display his talents because of a broken car... Chris Shultz won the 358 modified division. Hearn won his heat race in the 358 division.

race notes: Billy Decker won from the #1 starting position. Tough break for Hearn, who got a flat tire on lap 97. Hearn started in the 3rd spot and was 4th when the untimely flat hit. Dakake's ignition system/rev limiter was under scrutiny in the post-race inspection and a decision was pending.

  • 6/27 Albany Saratoga Speedway - 1st
race notes: Brett Hearn dominated the 100 lap CVRA vs the World challenge. Hearn remained undefeated in qualifying races at the Albany Saratoga Speedway in 2008. • 6/21 Fonda Speedway (Go Green NMX Fonda Thunder Series) - 6th
notes: Pat Ward won the caution free 40 lap event... Jack Johnson finished 7th after winning his qualifier... Brett Hearn was 1 of only 6 drivers finishing on the lead lap. The Fonda track may have turned out drier than expected for The Jersey Jet as his 74 car didn't appear to take a liking to the surface. The Fonda crew may have done a little too good a job at drying out a track that was hit earlier in the day with rain.

  • 6/20 Albany Saratoga Speedway - Canceled.
note: Another Albany Saratoga Speedway cancellation that is hard to explain. A quick shower early in the day was all it took. Forecast for the rest of the day/night was great. Strange indeed...

Hearn won his qualifier, but still only got the 13th starting spot at the Albany Saratoga Speedway track.

  • 5/18 Orange County Fair Speedway - **Rained out.

The Middletown Missile topped the Jersey Jet in this one. Chuck McKee got the modified victory at the Orange County Speedway for his first win in over 3 years.

  • 5/16 Albany Saratoga Speedway - **Canceled. Another Albany Saratoga Speedway race called off for less than 1/10th of an inch of rain. Not sure what is going on at that track this year.
